1. Acceptance of Terms
The National Centre for Technology in Education (NCTE) welcomes you to its Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) for Continuing
Professional Development (CPD). NCTE provides this VLE to you subject to the following Terms of Service (TOS), which may be updated by us
from time to time without notice. When using this VLE, you and NCTE shall be subject to any posted guidelines or rules applicable to such
VLEs. From time to time, the NCTE may amend the TOS, in its sole discretion, by posting updated versions of the TOS. All such guidelines
or rules (including but not limited to our Privacy Policy and Copyright Policy) are hereby incorporated by reference into the TOS.By signing up
for this online service, you consent to receive emails and/or telephone calls from time to time related only to the NCTE. Such emails and/or
calls will be made to your provided email address and telephone number.You have the ability to opt out at any time. You acknowledge that the
information you provide is accurate and your own.
2. Description Of VLE
The National Centre for Technology in Education is an agency of the
Department of Education and Skills and this online environment provides professional development and related supports for our users. Our CPD
virtual learning environment provides users with access to comprehensive and highly interactive online materials and associated services.
3. Your Obligations
Participants in this VLE must register to use this VLE and access its
resources and communities. We insist that, in using the VLE, you abide by the rules and policies detailed below. If you would like to cancel
your registration and use of this VLE, please refer to Section 9 for NCTE contact details to direct any queries and then logout. Although
the administrators and moderators of this VLE attempt to keep all objectionable material (including messages) off this VLE, it is
impossible for us to review all material. The views expressed in the material are those of its author and NCTE will not be held responsible
for the content of any message. By agreeing to these rules, you warrant that you will not post any materials that are obscene, vulgar,
sexually-oriented, hateful, threatening, or otherwise violate of any laws. NCTE reserves the right to remove, edit, move or close
contributions or a VLE area, for any reason.
4. Our Obligations
We will make every endeavour to facilitate the contribution of material of the highest quality for the development and support of Irish
teachers. Any material which is a confirmed infringement of our policies and standards will be taken down following notice (section 8)
within 2 working days.
5. Member Data, Account, Password and Security
On accepting these terms you will have completed the registration
process. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of the password and account and are fully responsible for all activities that
occur under your password or account. You agree to
(a) immediately notify NCTE of any unauthorized use of your password or account or any other breach of security,
(b) ensure that you exit from your account at the end of each session.
NCTE cannot and will not be liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to comply with this Section
5. NCTE/Scoilnet treats all personal data collected as confidential and will use it solely for the purposes intended.
The information will only be disclosed as permitted by law or for the purposes listed in the NCTE's registration with the Data Protection

6. Discussion Board/Forum Rules
Opinions expressed on the discussion forums are not those of NCTE and
NCTE accepts no legal responsibility for their veracity and nature. NCTE may at any time, and without prior or post warning, delete
messages or close discussions on forums as it feels appropriate.Considering the real-time nature of our discussion forums, it is
impossible for us to review messages or confirm the validity of information posted. Any user who feels that a posted message is
objectionable is encouraged to contact us immediately by email. We have the ability to remove objectionable messages and will make every effort
to do so within a reasonable time frame, if we determine that removal is necessary. If you wish to obtain information about another person’s
experiences with any particular person/ company/organisation, you may post a message requesting information. However, you must request that
people with negative comments respond personally to you by email - never via the forum. You are responsible for any content that you post
or transmit on the discussion forums. You provide the material on the basis and in the full knowledge that it will be treated as
non-confidential and non- proprietary and that it may be published and used by NCTE for any purpose. You warrant that the material you submit
is fit for publication and use and that publication and use of the material on the discussion forums will not infringe the rights
(including, without limitation, intellectual property rights) of, or cause injury to ,any third party. NCTE reserves the right to reveal
your identity (or whatever information we hold about you) in the event of a complaint or legal action arising from any message posted by you.
By agreeing to these rules, you warrant that you will not post any messages that are obscene, vulgar, sexually-oriented, hateful,
threatening, or otherwise in violation of any laws. This VLE may not be used to send chain letters, junk mail, spam, solicitations or bulk
communications of any kind. You will not impersonate a person, business or organisation when making any submissions to this site.NCTE reserves
the right to deny access to any individual who contravenes these Terms of Service.
7. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold NCTE and its agents, employees,
partners and licensors harmless from any claim or demand, including reasonable legal fees, made by any third party due to or arising out of
content you submit, post, transmit or otherwise make available through the VLE, your use of the VLE, your connection to the VLE, your
violation of the TOS, or your violation of any rights of another user.
8. Links
The VLE may provide, or third parties may provide, links to other World Wide Web sites or resources. Because NCTE has no control over such
sites and resources, you acknowledge and agree that NCTE is not responsible for the availability of such external sites or resources,
and does not endorse and is not responsible or liable for any content,advertising, products or other materials on or available from such
sites or resources.You further acknowledge and agree that NCTE shall not be responsible or liable, directly or indirectly, for any damage or
loss caused or alleged to be caused by or in connection with use of or reliance on any such content, goods or VLEs available on or through any
such site or resource. In the event of your encountering links to material which is not in compliance with our TOS, please contact
onlinecourses@ncte.ie. We will undertake to remove any such links within 2 working days.
9. Notice and Procedure for Infringement of Terms of Service
If you believe that your or others’ rights have been otherwise violated
through use of this VLE, please provide NCTE’s CPD -VLE Officer the following information:
(a) An electronic or physical signature of
the person authorized to act on behalf of the interested party;
(b) A description of the location on the site of the material that you claim is infringing;
(c) Your address, telephone number, and email address.
